Blessed Angles Songtext

Blessed Angles Songtext
There she goes walking between the rows
Of prison tents in deep despair.
The icy wind blows through her meagre clothes
And swirls among her dusty matted hair.
She prays her prayer again; was it all in vain,
Is God to far away to hear?
She lifts her head high to the African sky
Asking angels to deliver her prayer.
She says "Oh! Lord my spirit is low tonight
In this camp out on a windy plain
And as we sing hymns for the departed
May we never see these days of hell again.
And the angels are crying, Oh! I can taste their tears
Oh pray you blessed angels could God be somewhere near?
I′ve heard the veld is burning and livestock's on the run
I′ve heard my man is across the sea He's a prisoner in Ceylon.
And the angels are crying Oh! I can taste their tears
Oh! pray you blessed angels will God somehow appear?
Blessed angels, blessed angels;
Blessed angels, blessed angels.
The children here are ailing, some have lost their family
But they say an angel is coming and her name is Emily
And the angels are crying oh! I can taste their tears
Oh! pray you blessed angels did you whisper in God's ear?"
Now there′s a proud memorial to faith and bravery
And beneath the stone are buried the ashes of Emily
And the angels are crying and they are tears of joy I see.
Oh! pray you blessed angels did God send Emily?
Blessed angels, blessed angels;
Blessed angels, blessed angels.
Of prison tents in deep despair.
The icy wind blows through her meagre clothes
And swirls among her dusty matted hair.
She prays her prayer again; was it all in vain,
Is God to far away to hear?
She lifts her head high to the African sky
