It′s time for everybody's favorite game show
Sink or float
It′s the game show in which we take everyday
Household objects, drop them into a tub of water
To find out whether or not they will
Sink or float
First up, we have a stick
Wow, it floats
Next, we've got a spoon
It sinks
Hey, these objects, the stick and the spoon
Are approximately the same size
But one sinks and the other floats
What's up with that?


Density, density
Density, density
Two objects, one two, of the very same size
Which one is heavier, it′s no surprise
That the one with the molecules packed tightly
Has a much greater weight and density

Density, ooh ooh wee
Freshwater′s less dense than the sea
A pebble is denser than a Styrofoam pea
La dee dah dee dah dee, la dee dee
And a brick is thick with density

Since water is denser than alcohol
Watch what happens to the rubber ball
It floats in the water then sinks with ease
(The rubber ball sinks in the alcohol)
"Cause these liquids have 2 different densities

Density, ooh ooh wee
Freshwater's less dense than the sea
A pebble is denser than a Styrofoam pea
La dee dah dee dah dee, la dee dee
And a brick is thick with density


Now add salt to the water and make it dense
What happens next is commonsense
The egg which floated initially
Now sinks because of density
(The salt gives the water greater density)
