In the middle of the night
While the air was warm and dry
And my heart was hollow
In the heated summertime
While the world fought for the rise
Of what was to follow
I was running out of time
Doing what I could to try
To ease my sorrow
Cause the pressure was too high
All I did was just survive

But then to the sound of laughter
The moon fell to the ground
And like someone watching over me
Just in the moment after
As the rain came pouring down
I saw you standing next to me
If I told you how I feel
That my love for you is real
I wonder if you could believe
All I really want to do
Is to spend my days with you
And follow wherever you lead

I was moving out of sight
Further away from the light
The streets were dark and narrow
I was going out my mind
And the trail I left behind
Made me weak and shallow
With a hole inside my heart
That was tearing me apart
Growing ever bigger
Suddenly a shooting star
Came and lit up the dark
That made me stop and shiver
