Leaving Buffalo Songtext

Leaving Buffalo Songtext

Left the trailer park in Buffalo hitchhiked down I-95
After that last fight with my dad when I left him half alive
And I went to join the army to make my room and board
And cause I believed what I was told about saving the free world
Well maybe I′m just stupid but I couldn't understand
How they want to bust your ass to make you a free man
So I sent awol from Fort Bragg in 1972
Just after all the hippies dies and just before the war was through

And I′m still all for freedom no matter what they say
About the evils of this world and how it got that way
When you see me you might figure that I suffered on the road
But don't feel sorry, no don't fee sorry, no don′t feel sorry for me

I was pretty young you might say confused
No trade, no job, no money and never finished school
I worked in your orchards and on the corners of your streets
And once I worked a glue-gun to put the shoes upon your feet
And I have had my troubles, locked up once in Bakersfield
And I admit that i have taken whatever I could steal
But I never felt no richer than when I was wild and free
And the future was a feather floating on the breeze

And I′m still all for freedom no matter what you say
About the evils of this world and how I got that way
When you see me you might figure that I've suffered on the road
But don′t feel sorry, no don't feel sorry, not don′t feel sorry for me

And I'm still all for freedom, no matter what you say
About the evils of this world and how I got that way
When you see me you might figure that I′ve suffered on the road
But don't feel sorry, I don't feel sorry for you
Don′t feel sorry for me
