Even the guiding light of days
In the loving underground
Will find it′s shady weather here today.
I went upon the ledge
And didn't find a soul around.
Well that′s just me,
And who am I to say
When it's all the same

Now we're falling over all these chiefs
And running out of braves.
It′s getting hard to know just what to say.
Was a time when I could find
Belief in Jesus saves.
And so he came,
And took it all away.
I reckon he was saving
For a rainy day.

There′s no way to touch upon
This understanding had we known
How close it was
To be the sea of sand.
And heaven knows, we had the time,
And as I see, the only crime
Was being just a little short of land.
