As they approach the shore
The first snow falls
Edge of the woods an inviting door
In the distance the owls call
The branches grasp the air around her
Her lungs twitch in the freezing burn
"Lean into me"
When the witches′ spells weigh heavily
The little horse is almost out of breath
Still he runs with quick and steady steps
To the shore, into the light
This horse has only seen one night
Overnight the lake has frozen
And so their only path is chosen
Over the moon bridge on brittle ice
Onwards to the island lights
Need-fires pave the lake
To heal all lonely souls
But hexes and sixes
Of the three witches


Corrupt flame, ember and coal
Sickness spreads throughout
Witchcraft, there's no doubt
Two brave little souls
The girl on the roam
Through the winter with her foal
In the grip of winter′s chill
Even time feels frozen still
Feels like forever to reach the shore
Every single breath hurts more
The horse is starting to fade away
Nothing left but a flickering shade
The girl falls down on drifts of pure snow
Is she finally safe, is she home?
Need-fires pave the lake
