I saw your glow above the sand, what a sight
To see the end of the love of my life
Going up in a beautiful blaze of light


But I can′t believe my eyes
I saw pieces of you in the sky, burning bright
A shine in my eye, what a brilliant way to die

The few things saved from the flames bore your name
Letters addressed to me out at sea
If I'd only known what I now know
I swear I′d never have let you go, 'till we died

But I'm here alone by your side
As I gaze into your empty eyes
So I wrote this lullaby, what a way to say goodbye
