Sit With Your Ghost Songtext

Sit With Your Ghost Songtext

Salomé sits on the grass
With her mind as company
Her inner dialogue tells Rilke: you would like it here
The oak′s shade casting shadows
A squirrel
A flash of tail weaving around the trunk
The wind's opus, allargando
The dark dead leaves as a metaphor for sorrow

Here′s what I think you would say
Everything is poetry, in solitude
Here are images you would melt into letters

As my emotions grieve
My visualisations struggle
I am forced to construct still images of you
That were once in motion

You refuse to move in my film

When remembering you
Shall I have you seated on a rocking chair with pencil poised?
Or walking through the forest with Tolstoy?
But the last deathbed image often creeps through
Despite closing the door

And she reopens a conversation about fate
Unearthed by Neitzsche
This is meant to be
All we can do is follow life's script
Are we then exonerated from mistakes?
On this day, this hour, this minute
I was destined to sit with your ghost
