At the edge of the mangroves
Something′s lurking in the shadows

Passers by always lose their toes
When they dip their feet in the shallows

Near the banks where the waters slow
Was a patch where buffalo would wallow

At the roots where it's dark and cold
There′s a something lurking in the murky depths below

Out past a lonesome levee
There isn't a forest for the trees
For this is where death lays down
He lives in these woods
And gently surrounds me

In the black of a dark lagoon
In the slime and putrid rotting matter

A waste of slithering and crawling dread

Pooling streams
A curse
Much worse
Then any bad dream
