Arrivederci Roma, good intentions fare thee well,
I will always play the fool...


Lying on a bed of nails in some stranger's arms,
If this were the exception, not the rule,
After half a million warnings and a thousand faIse alarms,
I still always play the fool...

As long as there′s no reason, ne dignity, no sense,
As long as there is some unwritten rule,
While I get away with murder and call it selfdefence,
I wiil always play the fool...

How I wish I had a dollar for every drunken night,
For every minute stuck on some bar stool
For eyery time that I was wrong and swore black was white,
For one more chance to play the fool...
