Leaving Souvenirs Songtext

Leaving Souvenirs Songtext

I had a ′69 Impala
I bought it from my Dad
I gave him three hundred dollars
It gave me all it had
And after all that old car went through
You'd think I′d still have you

It always brought us home alright
It knew every curve in the road
Gave us shelter from the night
When we had no gas to go
We always found plenty to do
When you loved me and I loved you

The other day I seen that car
In a heap of rust by the old man's barn
I hadn't thought of it in years
But you still cross my mind
And all we left behind
And we were leaving souvenirs

Now the car won′t start
And I had to pry the door
Among the salvage parts
Up on the dashboard
There was a red ribbon from your hair

And I remember the night that you put it there
The other day I seen that car
In a heap of rust by the old man′s barn
I hadn't thought of it in years
But you still cross my mind
And all we left behind
And we were leaving souvenirs
When we were leaving souvenirs
