There once was a prince with a fire in his eyes
And a palace he built of his dreams
With towering visions of chasing the skies
And the glory he′d bring to his King
But one day a black cloud of evil set in
A storm washed the palace away in the wind
And all that's left is the pain of one word
Written on his face

He cried איכה- how can this be
This wasn′t the life I was chosen to lead
איכה- a question, a plea
Can the fate that I am facing be my destiny
The words of a nation who wept bitter tears
For their beautiful city, now gone, disappeared
They cried איכה
And their cry is alive


There once stood a palace
Bathed in a glow
That only the heavens could guild
A place for the people
Hashem cherished so
A mikdash they lovingly built
But angry red flames
They devoured it all
The city, the palace, the peace
As the heartbroken princes stood
Witnessing this tragedy

Oh- איכה ישבה בדד
I am left here alone with no comfort in sorrow
איכה - I just need to know
Will the dreams that I nourished have hope of tomorrow
Yisrael I now understand your pain
Yisrael the cry is resounding again
In the איכה my broken heart cries

איכה ישבה בדד, העיר רבתי עם
הייתה כאלמנה
I weep with you now yerushalayim
As the churban that burned us
Persists to remain


על אלה אני בוכיה
As the tears of mourning, pour forth from my heart
על אלה אני בוכיה
Over the ruins and rubble of my hopes torn apart
בת ציון, you've asked it for years without cease
בת ציון, my heart joins with yours to beseech
