Solitary Road Songtext
von Charley Crockett
Solitary Road Songtext
I′d be glad to tell you the story
About a solitary road
You can't take nobody with you
And you ain′t coming back if you go
It's a highway teeming with blackjack
On every corner young Jezebels
Well they say it can lead to salvation
But you won't be able to tell
Cause it′s a solitary road
I was only a wanderer
A lonely child of circumstance
When I heard that nightingale calling me
And he flew right into my hands
Well he told me they′d rise up against me
As it turned out this was the case
I saw jackals roaming the valleys
Grifters all over the place
See it's a solitary road
A kingdom lay high on the mountain
I could see it through rain and snow
Many had fallen in fields beside me
As I cross over every road
When I reached those gates of the city
I was trembling, I have to confess
Eyes of judgment lay heavy upon me
The red sun hung low in the West
On the solitary road
About a solitary road
You can't take nobody with you
And you ain′t coming back if you go
It's a highway teeming with blackjack
On every corner young Jezebels
Well they say it can lead to salvation
But you won't be able to tell
Cause it′s a solitary road
I was only a wanderer
A lonely child of circumstance
When I heard that nightingale calling me
And he flew right into my hands
Well he told me they′d rise up against me
As it turned out this was the case
I saw jackals roaming the valleys
Grifters all over the place
See it's a solitary road
A kingdom lay high on the mountain
I could see it through rain and snow
Many had fallen in fields beside me
As I cross over every road
When I reached those gates of the city
I was trembling, I have to confess
Eyes of judgment lay heavy upon me
The red sun hung low in the West
On the solitary road
