Dare Ya (Commentary) Songtext

Dare Ya (Commentary) Songtext
We′ve come to the last track
I hate that it's gotta end (I know) but this last one is called "Dare Ya"
And I love this song because every woman has been there
You are on a date, you are aching for him to just "Kiss me!" (yes)
Just do it
And you feel like you′ve given him every single signal
Uh, short of jumping on him (right?)
Talk to me about "Dare Ya"
This was written with Alisson, my friend, and, uhm
A guy named Joe Ginsberg that I love
And we went into the writer room, we had never met Joe before
So here comes the big dynamic duo force
And Joe played us this weird track of this banjo that almost had an oriental vibe to it
We were like, "What is that?" and we kinda laughed and made fun of him
When he was turned around, which is awful, but he knows
And then we were kinda like, "Wait a minute this might be really fun and cool"
And I had just started dating my boyfriend
And he took a few months to kiss me and I was mad and was annoyed and so
Of course as any true female artist would do
You're gonna be put in my song
And we wrote this song so fast and it kinda has
I hear it in the phrasing and just the, the melody
I hear Alisson in there just with kind of her more urban side
And the spit-fire lyric and just the images of you know, we want
I think most girls are traditional especially in the South
And they want the guy to make the first move, but
Dang, waiting a few months is a long time
What else do I have to do?
Did you ever watch Sex and the City?
Uhm, yes
Remember when she was dating Aiden and he was just trying to court her
And she's like, "What is wrong we′re going to the friendzone"
And he′s like, "I'm just trying to date you"
And that′s exactly what this guy said
He's like, "I′m just trying to be like a gentleman"
I'm like, "Well dang, like let′s split the difference or something"
Well, I do wonder, uhm, have you ever made the first move?
Whether it was asking a guy out, picking up the phone and calling somebody
Going for the kiss
I've never gone in for the kiss but I have definitely put the vibe out
And asked for the guy to get together
And was he receptive?
He was (of course he was)
Yeah (have you seen you?)
Well, this is a fun one, it's sassy
It′s called "Dare Ya" on Big Machine Radio
I hate that it's gotta end (I know) but this last one is called "Dare Ya"
