Ava crowed, her labour went on for days
Eyes glowed, she sang lullabies to slow the pain
"Sunshine, my sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey"

When the midwife arrived, she untied all the curtains
And un-braided the ribbons from Ava′s head
Made loose every shining black strand, thread by thread

Come waves of redemption free out on the ocean
Come waves and waves and waves and waves of grief
Spread out to the horizon, shining from the land


The baby, rose an angel among men
Eyes glowed like butterflies in the wind
"I dreamed I held you, alas I was mistaken"

Grown older, the angel returns to man
Stockbroker in a faraway and distant land
"Come back and make me happy, I'll forgive you and take the blame"

I′ve always loved you, and nothing else could come between
