The Summertime Songtext
von Briana Marela

The Summertime Songtext

It's frightening to know
that our cells create souls
and that you would drive to see me
when we live in different cities
And I had a part of you
carried inside of me
Before I gave it to a place
where other people make mistakes

It brings us close, and further apart
Wasting a seed that wanted to grow up
But we are only kids who have just left our homes

You talk in your sleep
I'm silent six weeks
It's better when you're here keeping me safe,
holding me near
I'm saving my smiles for you
instead of sadness
I swallow when you disappear
for days when I have been unclear

What about when you no longer need me?
When you no longer wait impatient for me to come home?
I'm not needy but sometimes I need you
And it gets so hard to tell you all the times I've been wrong
So I'll fall asleep alone and hope it won't take long

Your patience is running thin
I keep guessing what you're thinking
I'm waiting for a sign to know it's okay
to think about the summertime
To think about the summertime
To know it's okay to think about you
