Sitting on his front porch all alone
A glass of beer beside him like a king upon his throne
I walked UP to him he smiled a smile
Come sit down here beside me, and talk for a while

I′ve got so many stories i could tell
But if i shared them all with you
You'd swear i′d been to hell


Because I stood beside my best mates, as we held them all at bay
Outnumbered and divided, but it was the Anzac way
With nothing left but beating hearts, we fought as many men
And our spirit kept us going, time and time again
And on this special day I drink a beer
To honour those who've gone from year to year
In my heart they always will remain
And I'm proud to be an Anzac, once again

As he finished off his glass he closed his eyes
His body and mind weary but his joy he could not hide
As the bugle called i stood beside this man
He said i′d stand there with you but my legs no longer can

But in my heart I′m standing straight and tall
Saluting our great flag to honour one and all
