As she smiled so soft and sweetly
I sat down at the table
Sandwiches and cake to greet me
Fetch a pack of tea
Is what she said to me
Take the kettle from the stove
When it is hot

She set down our best china
Then a cheeky grin she gave me
There was nothing I found finer
Than sippin′ tea with this sweet lady
Then she held my hand
And said ain't this grand
