I′m under the soil
Curled into a soft moss bed
She is with me
Arranging ferns overhead
I watch her hands
Cold, old, stained dark green

She's tucking me in
She′s leaving me over here

I visit again
Desperate to ask if she′s a friend
But we don't speak
She doesn′t seem to notice me

I watch her move
A painful back
She's weathered storms
And dried feathers and fur
Wrapped around to hide her form
And keep her warm

A clearing, a stream
With a little cave beneath
She ushers me in
It's dripping, dank and velvet green


I squeeze in
Barely an inch all around me
She turns to leave
I ask her, "Will you come see me?

A sense of calm
Washes over me
When she says, "Anna, do no harm
