The great shadow maker rises in time
Some things you keep, some you leave behind

Words on a page for the sake of a rhyme
Alice among the pines

The blackened waters of serpentine
Turn gold and the water snakes all entwined
And this I took as a sign
Alice among the pines


Well reasons are many and excuses are few

Ever spinning the reverie
Into this dream of mine, in this endless dream of mine

A step from the shadows one last time
To lie down in the columbine
Her life is a eulogy, I tried to keep time
I′d sing along if she threw me a line

And we entered the forest, deep, dark and sublime
Her words, not mine
