Noonday sun hung all a-blazing
Night time skyway and the sun hung all a-blazing
And all a-pulsing ′gainst my back bone
Screeching infinity all pressing at my bent back bones

And I could hear them waters raging
I could hear the seawall crashing to the waves
And eyes a-glazing, teeth all grinding
Wild convulsions thump the belly of the earth back down its throat


I saw angels with blunt blades on high
Fingering constellations they'd cut from the sky
And dead men parading in threes round my bed and my head and my hands ′tween my Knees
My tongue hanging done
Aw Lord God leave me be...
Y'cannae hack it, dinnae drink it son, just leave it be

White horses all toppling in time
They'll be hung from their hind legs and bled for their rhymes
And rushes of wild water streaming
Black things all peeling the songs from the stones
She′s screaming
Lord God, leave them horses alone, boys
Shaking, you′re breaking them
