National Treasure Songtext

Just outside of Texas
Some lousy cuss
Pulled Willie over
In his Honeysuckle bus
I guess he thought he′d make
A name for himself
Giving a National Treasure some Louisiana hell

But Willie and his buddies worked together
And nobody had to go to jail

Just outside of Texas
Desperate humans
Are met at the border
By men with guns
Who want to keep
It all for themselves
They do it for god and country wearing white protective shells

They built a wall
To keep out a reckoning of history inconvenient to recall

They say it ain't so simple
And I′ve got to agree
Being so scared of other people
Well it doesn't look too easy

Far away from Texas
I'm moving on
I think about my people
I wonder how they′re getting along
Without me now
I′m so out of town
Am I still a part of everything even though I'm not around?

Because there was always too much
I always wanted more
Even though the house was rockin′
I guess I had to find the door

I can't put all the pieces
Back where they belong
And my mind goes looking for you
Remembers you′re gone
I want you to know that I will remain strong

Just because all the sheep are running doesn't mean I′m gonna go along
And I'll try to keep it simple when I hammer out another song
And if I see you in a dream
I'm gonna think about it all day long
