Old Man Songtext

Old Man Songtext
The old man he rocks slowly
In his ancient chair
The last sunset he′ll ever see
Dyes the sky blood red
The twinkle in those old grey eyes
Is very nearly gone
But the smile remains upon his lips
Coz he knows he's won
Old man
How can you smile at all
You know the writings on the wall
Old man
How can you smile at death
As you draw your last breath
Old man
What did you see
That let your spirit pass with easy
Old man
Thinks of the good that he′s left
As he draws his last breath
Young one's often stop and stare
At this figure from the past
He beckons them to stop a while
And he tells them live life fast
He says to take the whole world
In a solid fist
So when it comes your time to die
There's nothing that you′ve missed
Old man
How can you smile at all
You know the writings on the wall
Old man
How can you smile at death
As you draw your last breath
Old man
What did you see
That let your spirit pass with easy
Old man
Thinks of the good that he′s left
As he draws his last breath
So he sits there still
Like a figure cut from stone
It seems to the passers by
That he's all alone
But he′s got those memories
To take to where he'll go
And as the light flickers out
He′s at peace
At peace with the world
He stands there
Up on high
And he stares Saint Peter
Right in the eye
The angel smiles
Shakes his hand
Grants him wings and says
Come on in
In his ancient chair
The last sunset he′ll ever see
Dyes the sky blood red
The twinkle in those old grey eyes
Is very nearly gone
But the smile remains upon his lips
Coz he knows he's won
Old man
How can you smile at all
You know the writings on the wall
Old man
How can you smile at death
As you draw your last breath
Old man
What did you see
That let your spirit pass with easy
Old man
Thinks of the good that he′s left
