Rambler Songtext

Rambler Songtext
Well it was late at night or early in the morning, depending on who you are or what you call it. There were these two men hanging around, sitting on the wall, laughing and complaining. I guess my stare must have disturbed them ′cause that's ′bout time one of them looked up and saw me.
Son, you ain't in the best of moods. That's clear in the way you drag your shoes, so why don′t you sit with us a moment and have a drink? Tell me what′s on your mind. You look about 19 and the educated kind. So tell me boy, what has the world done to you?
I guess I feel like I've run this race too long. I may be young but my feet are still tired today. I′ve got a raging urge to leave this place–I don't know where but something somewhere some place. You see this system′s fucked: I pay my bills and what does it get me? Nothing I can feel. All the people around have things to say but I can't understand, I can′t relate. But you say to take what comes with a grain of salt, right? Well mister, could you shed some light?
Pipe down kid I've something to say about your big dream of running away from your problems: They will follow you everywhere you go. But it seems like you've made up your mind so pack your bags kid, it′s time for you to find all the places that you seek. But once you go there you will know that there′s no place that seems to glow as brightly as what you imagine. And the only gravity that pulls severely is the place where you are standing now–and this is the salt you seek. So go boy, take your time, but don't complain if you become a stranger′s name.
Well I think I'll take your challenge, old man. It′s 4am and with a 6-pack of cans, what do you know? There's no feeling here. No emotion. No ceiling to how detached I′ll become if I stay. And don't get me wrong sir 'bout what I say, don′t kid me for a moment, I′m not running away. I never belonged here and to this day every ounce of culture here I disdain.
Take all that you can boy, run away, but pray that you return someday to the people who understand you. Here they wait. And pray that they forgive all the words you speak now 'cause you′ll leave more than you'll take, I guarantee.
