The Greatest Gift Songtext

The world outside my window′s moving fast
Lately I have not been sleeping well
I'm walking on eggshells

There′s a growing loss of interest
In the occurrences that I witness
I'm walking on eggshells

The birds and bees
I've awaited them
The empty trees tell me we′re damned
Oh bloody peers what have we done

After all I know we′ll be outlived
And that is the greatest gift
We shall be overcome

It only takes a seed to grow a tree
It takes a cell to grow an animal
Empathy to stay alive

I keep hearing opinions
Of foes and companions
In real life in paper on tv and vapour
And none of it makes sense
Since my adolescence

The birds and the bees
And the bush and the trees
Are my safe haven

Trying so hard to focus on the joys
I cannot silence the voice
That calls attention to decline

When I look up to the glowing stars
It is soothing this world's scars
We′re so small and vincible

After all I know we'll be outlived
And that is the greatest gift
We shall be overcome

It only takes a seed to grow a tree
It takes a cell to grow an animal
Empathy to stay alive

The greatest gift
The greatest gift
The greatest gift
The greatest, the greatest

It only takes a seed to grow a tree
It takes a cell to grow an animal
Empathy to stay alive
