Have you ever caught a glimpse of your reflection in the mirror
And wondered if the person that you saw was even you?
Everyone applauding, it′s a perfect presentation
Nobody would ever have a clue

Have you ever closed your eyes and tried to listen to your heartbeat?
It takes you to a place that seems so vast you can't ignore
And all they ever see is only part of the equation
Don′t they realize you're so much more?

There's a universe inside
Which no one else can see
A world inside
Where I′m alone with me
You can spend a lifetime looking deep in someone′s eyes
And never see the universe inside

We live our lives unscreened, we pass like strangers undetected
Buying things we do not need to cure a sickness we don't have
And underneath it all, there lies a beauty unsuspected
Revealed for just a moment when we laugh


I′m scared to show what's underneath, I cover it with makeup
Bravery, bravado and the need to be the best
If I showed them what I′m hiding, could I handle the rejection
Stepping to the light that I possess?

There's a universe inside

A world inside
Where I′m alone with me

The terror of the great unknown
Just wish that we could see each other shining
